What is Netghosts: Infinite Worlds?
Netghosts: Infinite Worlds is a tabletop roleplaying game about the bonds between humans (Tamers) and digital spirits (Netghosts). It's a game of action, drama, and heart, set in a bright, technologically advanced world with a dark secret lurking beneath the surface. Players take on the role of Tamers, young people who have formed soul bonds with Netghosts and are drawn into a hidden conflict.
The World: The Sea of Data
Behind our reality lies the Sea of Data, a dimension of human memory, myth, and imagination. The global network of technology has blurred the lines between our world and the Sea of Data, allowing spirits to emerge. These are the Netghosts.
Netghosts are manifestations of stories, legends, and characters from our collective imagination. When a Netghost forms a bond with a human, they take on a physical form, a process called emersion, which greatly diminishes their power. Through their bond with a Tamer, they can regain and even surpass their original strength.
The Era of Rebellion
The default setting is the Era of Rebellion, thirty years after the devastating Digital Wars. On the surface, the world is a technological utopia, but the same corporations that provide the world's neural implants and entertainment also hold a tight grip on society.
- Delta Corporation: The sole manufacturer of CIRCUIT neural implants and controller of the DIVENET's time flow.
- The Consortium: A group of powerful megacorporationsâPanopticorp (surveillance), Paradiso Incorporated (pharmaceuticals), and CommCorp (media)âworking with and against each other to further their own goals.
Players and their Netghosts are among the few who know the truth about the world's hidden corruption and must navigate this dangerous landscape as outsiders and "troublemakers."
The game also supports other eras of play, such as the Era of Wars (during the Digital Wars) and the Era of the Seas (a future where Netghosts are public knowledge).
